Dear Council, Manja and Carolin,

this has just arrived, do you know anything about this "movements" (La
Smala) in our network?
comment of Brigitta: "Erasmus-funded events to take place at La Smala
under the name of GEN-Europe" - is there anything against it?

I haven't spoken nor heard of them, is this a question for GEN Suisse od
GEN Europe? Do we have (discussed) a leadership on "the French GEN
Suisse" in GEN Europe, is this community still a (paying) member?

Curious about answers

All the best
Stefanie

Ich hatte nicht die richtigen Mailadressen von den anderen.

Vielen Dank und liebe Grüsse

*Urgent concerns about an Erasmus-funded event connected to GEN-Europe*

    Dear council members of GEN-Europe

We have heard that La Smala, is known to GEN Europe as the leader of
    the French-speaking GEN-Network of Switzerland.

First of all, this suprises us, because there has never been any
agreement
from GEN-Suisse with La Smala to take this responsability and target.

Various adverse information have come towards GEN-Suisse concerning
La Smala. And GEN-Suisse at its own has had various negative
    experiences with La Smala aswell.

It is also the case that La Smala left the GEN-Suisse network about
5 years ago. The fact that it presents itself as "Ecovillages
Romandie" /(French part of Switzerland)/ is not done in agreement
    with GEN-Suisse.

We visited la Smala a year ago and explained what steps it would
need to take to become part of GEN-Suisse. Since then we have not
heard back from them. During the visit at their place, we got doubts
whether they meet the democratic requirements of an ecovillage, for
    example in decision-making.

Former members of La Smala reported authoritarian and manipulative
behaviour on the part of the management, and some have not fully
recovered the money invested /(despite prior agreement)./

For all these reasons, we feel it is worrying for Erasmus-funded
events to take place at La Smala under the name of GEN-Europe.

As GEN-Suisse, the official Swiss network of ecovillages and eco-
communities in Switzerland since 2011, we do not accept La Smala as
leader
of the French-speaking ecovillages of Switzerland, due to above
mentionned
     issues.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us:

    Kind regards and greetings
